Behind "Bauble Town"
Workshops with Young Carers & Children Looked After

In Autumn 2024, we ran a series of creative workshops with East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Children’s Participation and Rights Team, working closely with young carers and children looked after. These sessions helped shape our 2024 Christmas family musical, Bauble Town, ensuring the story was authentic, empowering, and reflected the voices of those often unheard.

Through games, discussion, songwriting, and storytelling, the participants inspired key elements of the show — from the personality of our main characters to the emotional core of the story. Bauble Town became a platform to explore what it feels like to carry responsibilities others might not see, and how community, imagination, and recognition can make all the difference.

Together, the group co-wrote the final song of the show: The Unseen. The lyrics were shaped by the participants’ own words and feelings, creating something honest, hopeful, and truly theirs.

Every child who took part received a free ticket to Bauble Town through our 'Pay It Forward' campaign, a community-driven initiative where anyone can donate a ticket (£4) to a child who might otherwise miss out.

Bauble Town was produced in partnership with East Riding Libraries, touring to local libraries, schools, and community venues, December 2024.
Supported by Arts Council England, Morco Products, and The Horncastle Family Foundation.
