Gail Hurst

Since committing to becoming a full time Artist I am experiencing the valuable commodity of 'time' and allowing my artistic challenges both in my sculpture and painting to reach a deeper level of understanding. My work balances abstract and realism because what I really love to capture is movement in my painting and storytelling in my lifesize paper sculptures. These three paintings and Hydrangea Sculpture are part of the Elizabeth Collection currently on exhibition at Burton Constable Hall. It's a cohesive body of work inspired by my love of hydrangea and their flowing mop heads (which simply carry on giving even when dried) and the dancing wild flower meadows of Yorkshire and Norfolk.
